Raise your hand if you’ve let yourself fall to the wayside during this Stay-Home order? It’s reached the point where you’re finally putting on pants, like real pants, but when was the last time you didn’t have your hair in a bun or worn some make-up? We have no idea when the salons and spas are going to be open, and even if they all open up tomorrow you’re not getting in right away. This means it’s time to take your self-care and mental health into your own hands. If you don’t want to do it alone, set up a virtual girl’s night with your besties! Invite the men along too. Yeah, we’ve seen the beards. Here’s how you can give yourself a boost even if you’re stuck at home.
- Face Masks & Wine: Face masks are great for exfoliating, refreshing, moisturizing, and more. Whether sheet masks or mud masks, they offer great results for your skin. You have to leave them on for about 15 to 20 minutes, giving you plenty of time to indulge in a glass of your favorite wine.
- Pro Tip: If you’re using a mask that hardens, get a straw for your wine. This is about self-care, not self-denying.
Bath bombs & Candles: Nothing relaxes the muscles more than a nice warm bath and some candles to set the mood. Bath bombs can be added to the water, filling it with delicious scents, bubbles, flower petals, etc. If bath bombs aren’t your thing or you just want a simple bubble bath, add some essential oils, such as lavender or rose, to help give you pure bliss during an unsettling time.
Dress Up & Do Your Hair: Just because you have no place to go doesn’t mean you can’t dress up! Put on your best to just dance around the house or make dinner. Don’t forget about your hair either! It’s incredible how good you’ll feel after you’ve washed your hair, even do a hair mask, and style it. Don’t just throw it up into a ponytail or a bun. Take the time to straighten it, curl it, try the new style you’ve been curious about, and more!
Give Yourself A Mani/Pedi: Are your nails looking a little worse for wear? Your fill has grown out, and your cuticles have grown in. Take the time to pamper your hands. You can stick to a basic nail polish job after fixing up your nails or get adventurous with fake nails. Several kits give you everything you need for the perfect manicure. Don’t forget about your feet either! I bet you haven’t had the chance to get them Summer ready. Now is the time!
